Women Build History
Since 1991, Habitat’s Women Build volunteers have come together from all walks of life to build stronger, safer communities. Women Build opportunities are available across the U.S., and any woman or person who wants to learn how to build or repair a home is invited to join.

Women and children are the most likely to be affected by poor living conditions, and these events provide the opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities.

Women Build is also a terrific way to involve your friends and family of all ages in crucial work with a lasting impact. You can also come alone and make new friends; the atmosphere is collaborative and friendly!
Meet The Loma Family!
2026 Women Build Recipient!
For Sharae, the dream of homeownership has always been about one thing: her children. A single mother of three, Sharae spends every day working to build a better future for her family. Her oldest daughter dreams of becoming a nurse someday. One of her children hopes to become a veterinarian, caring for animals and helping them heal. One of her other children loves music and movement and takes every chance to dance around the living room.

After being forced to leave the mobile home they had been living in, she moved her family in with her sibling. The small two-bedroom apartment is now home to Sharae, her three children, and her sibling. While Sharae is grateful to have a place to stay, the arrangement is crowded and temporary, and she knows it cannot last forever.

Despite the challenges, Sharae refuses to give up on her dreams.

She is currently a student, working toward admission into the nursing program so she can earn her nursing degree. At the same time, she works three jobs to support her family and keep them moving forward.

Through it all, this dedicated mother stays focused on what matters most—creating a safe, stable place where her children can grow.

“My kids deserve a safe place to grow up,” she says. “I never thought I would be able to afford to buy a home. Habitat’s program seems like an opportunity for someone like me who has always wanted to be part of something bigger than myself.”

For Sharae, a Habitat home would mean more than just walls and a roof. It would mean stability for her children—a place where they can study, play, and dream about the futures they are already imagining. A place to dance in the living room. A quiet space to study for nursing school. A home where her children can grow up knowing their mother never stopped fighting for them.

With hard work, determination, and the support of Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity, Sharae is building the foundation for a brighter future—one where her family finally has a place to call home.
Volunteer With Us!
This volunteer initiative empowers women by giving them hands-on experience and showing how their hard work makes a difference in the community. Right now, women make up only 1% of all plumbers, concreters, roof tilers, bricklayers, and carpenters. This event invites women from all over Weld County to pick up a hammer and tackle the pressing need for safe and affordable housing.
