Monfort Family Foundation Invests in Strengthening Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity

August 13, 2014 - Greeley, CO For the second consecutive year, The Monfort Family Foundation has announced a $100K matching grant to Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity.

The Monfort Family Foundation grant recognizes the important role of Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity as a catalyst for building a stronger, healthier communitiy.  “The Monfort Family Foundation Trustees feel very passionately about Greeley Habitat and commend the organization for the outstanding work it does”, said Patty Penfold, Monfort Family Foundation Executive Director.

Dick Monfort who was the Keynote Speaker at the May 2014 Habitat for Humanity Field of Dreams Breakfast, expressed his appreciation for the Habitat model in that it is a hand up, not a handout.  Homeowners contribute sweat equity and pay a mortgage payment in order to own their home.

Greeley Habitat is in the 2nd year of a 3-year plan to complete the final 15 homes in the Habitat North development.  5 homes were completed on schedule last year and 5 are slated to be built this year.  When the 15 homes are complete, Habitat North will be home to 60 Habitat families, changing lives and generations to come.

“The support of The Monfort Family Foundation makes a substantial difference in what we can accomplish and the lives we can touch in our mission to build homes, community and hope in the Greeley area”, said Leianne Romero, Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity, Executive Director.

Through this Monfort Family Foundation matching gift, every dollar donated in this fiscal year, will be matched, up to $100K.  This partnership will make a significant impact on our goal to alleviate substandard housing in the Greeley area and to provide decent and affordable housing to families in need.

Please consider making a gift today and double your impact in our community with this matching grant!
