Atmos Energy and Schlessman Family Foundation partner up to build a Habitat Home

Greeley, CO Atmos Energy and the Schlessman Family Foundation have partnered with Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity to build its ninth home in the Greeley Area. Ground was broken last month and over the next ten weeks, employees from Atmos and community volunteers and the selected family will be working together to build  their home.

“Its sponsors like Atmos Energy and the Schlessman Family Foundation that make it possible to provide a positive impact in our community and to provide the opportunity for families to own a home. This impact makes a ripple effect in stability of employment, education and health. We are truly grateful and blessed.” said Greeley Habitat Executive Director Leianne Romero.

Atmos Energy, once known as Greeley Gas Company, has now grown to be one of the countries largest natural-gas only distributers. While Atmos Engery continues to grow at a national level, they remain committed the Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity through ongoing financial support.  The natural partnership with The Schlessman Family Foundation  came from th the late Gerald L.Schlessman who began the Greeley Gas Company. The Schlessman Family Foundation was established to provide charitable support in granting opportunities for children and adults hinder by economic status or physical and mental challenges to enable them to become self-sufficient productive members of their communities.

“We are so fortunate to have such a large corporation and Foundation continue to support the local roots of their communities they grew from and to continually give back to us.”- Christine Allard-Doble Greeley Area Habitat Resource Development.

The construction is at the initial stages and there is still opportunity for volunteers and organizations to participate in the project.  Additionally, there are two other homes being built by Greeley Area Habitat and volunteers are needed for those homes.
