Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity is an independent affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and is a non-profit organization that helps provide homes in partnership with local families in need of affordable, safe, and stable homes. Our mission is to create a pathway out of poverty for generations to come, building strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership opportunities for local Weld County families. Building homes, communities, and hope. Our vision is that every family in Weld County will have the opportunity to live in a home that is affordable, safe and decent while fostering a pride in ownership. Key stakeholders, community leaders, and partners have this shared vision and view of ending poverty housing in Weld County as a top priority. Resource allocation reflects that shared value.
2) Who can apply for homeownership?
Habitat homes are not given away but are sold to families who qualify and are willing to put in hundreds of hours of sweat equity labor and make affordable monthly mortgage payments. Habitat homes are a way for us to give a hand up not a hand out to local families in need by supplying them with the tools they need for homeownership! 3) Is there additional education after acceptance into the homeownership program?
Our Habitat Partner Families are required to undergo homeownership classes to ensure their success in owning and caring for their new homes. The topics of some of the classes are:

4) Length of time between application acceptance until the family moves into their home?
The time it takes between application acceptance and their home closing and dedication can vary for a few reasons but in general, our families are able to move into their homes in between 12 - 24 months.

5) What does a typical Habitat home look like?
The typical size of our Habitat Homes is generally 3 to 4 bedroom but we build our homes to the size of our Partner Families at the time of their application acceptance.

6) What makes our homes affordable?
Housing and related expenses, like mortgages and utilities, are not allowed to exceed 30% of a household’s income. Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity underwrites a majority of the cost of the homes to ensure that the mortgages stay under 30% of our Partner Family incomes. This money comes directly from corporate sponsorships, fundraisers, community grants and from generous donors!
7) What is a Habitat for Humanity ReStore?
Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a nonprofit home improvement store and donation center that sell new gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price. The ReStore’s mission is to RECYCLE donations from individuals and businesses, RESELL them to the public at a reduced cost, and REINVEST the profits into Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity to help REBUILD lives through building homes. The ReStore was started in October of 2005.
