Veterans Build

GAHFH is an interfaith nonprofit Christian organization that works in partnership with deserving low-income families and community volunteers to build quality and affordable homes.  This project is special because we are focusing on the veteran families in our local community.  This project will provide access to quality affordable housing, the opportunity to engage with the community and fellow veterans, and the chance to serve others by volunteering.

We give a hand up—not a hand out—to our Partner Families who must:

  • Reside or have worked in Weld County.
  • Need affordable housing (living in housing that is substandard, over-crowded, and/or unaffordable).
  • Be willing to complete 500 “sweat equity” hours, 100 of which must be on the build site (friends and family can donate up to 200 hours).
  • Have the ability to pay, and fall within specific income guidelines.
  • Attend family support education classes to make our partner families

Veterans Build House Sponsors are corporations, small businesses, faith based organizations, civic groups, individuals, and foundations who contribute funding that help us build a Habitat home. These partnerships are critical to accomplish the Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity’s mission in Weld County. At-risk families benefit from the life- changing opportunity of homeownership. Neighborhoods and communities benefit from the stability and prosperity that homeownership brings.  Veterans benefit from learning new skills, growing their confidence, and making a positive difference. House Sponsors benefit, too, from their collaboration with Greeley Area Habitat for Humanity. Here are several examples:

Community Development and Investment.  Habitat is an excellent partner for organizations that value community investment. Home construction offers concrete results in terms of families served, homes built, and overtime—the improvement of important quality of life indicators such as family education, health, and wealth.

Morale and Teamwork.  Thousands of volunteers from businesses, schools, and religious congregations testify to the great personal satisfaction they derive from working on a Habitat worksite, including strengthened camaraderie and morale.

Marketing and Public Relations.  Habitat is a $3.2 billion global brand that ranks among the most respected and trusted nonprofits in the world.  Partnering with GAHFH is a rewarding and effective way to enhance your company’s visibility and build positive community relations.

Becoming a GAHFH Veterans Build House Sponsor is an excellent way to engage our organization in the Weld County area and make a lasting difference in the lives of hardworking and deserving families.  Habitat homeowners work alongside sponsors and volunteers building the home. Working together, homeowners and sponsors develop a positive relationship, gaining a greater understanding about the need for affordable housing, and the ability to transform lives and communities.
