Once again for the 4th year, Thrivent Financial has generously offered to match 50% of the cost to build a Habitat home while challenging the faith community to do the same! Making this Thrivent's 14th home built in partnership with Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity.

We are excited for the 2020 Faith Build as the Weld Faith Community comes together putting God's love into action to build a home. Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity invites people from the faith community to help fully fund and build this home for a hard-working partner family.

If you, your church, or faith organization would like to get involved with the 2021 Faith Build, please contact Lowrey Moyer, Senior Development Director at 970-351-6766 ext. 107 or at

Arguello & Vasquez Family

The story of Habitat homeowners Stephanie Arguello and Patricia Vasquez is one of patience and persistence. Patricia, a second-time Habitat applicant, was denied on her first application shortly after going through a divorce. She was undaunted, however, and kept in touch with Habitat for years: “I had heard about the program through my sister Elissa (a habitat homeowner) and applied right after my divorce. When I was denied I did not feel frustrated, I just prayed. It helped to know that the home would be going to someone else who may have needed it more”.

When her daughter Stephanie and her two grandchildren moved back to Colorado from California, however, Patricia’s living situation underwent a dramatic change, and space became an immediate issue: “When my daughter came back, she and the kids came to live with me in my one-bedroom apartment. The quarters were very tight, and we were blessed to be able to move across the hall to a two-bedroom. [Even in the two-bedroom] however, quarters have still been tight with four people in the apartment”. On top of the close quarters, the apartment they share is very old, and the poor condition of the space has been stressful, especially during COVID-19. The family struggles to have even routine maintenance performed, and the apartment has been infested with cockroaches for years.

Even under these conditions, however, Patricia and Stephanie were most concerned with finding a living situation that would provide more room for Stephanie’s young girls: “The hardest part was having to see my girls sleep on the couch, or squeeze all into one bed” Stephanie said. “In our one-bedroom apartment, Natalie would go into the closet and make her own ‘room’. We are very thankful for being picked and just thinking about it now the girls are going to have their space and own rooms. I am just overjoyed thinking of that.”

Stephanie and Patricia are thrilled to be selected as Habitat homeowners and are eager to get to work on their new home. They recognize the unique opportunity that homeownership provides and have worked hard and waited long for their chance to provide their young girls with a better life: “Greeley Habitat and all volunteers are helping us to thrive and own our own home” Patricia said. “God bless you all for doing this during these hard times, you cannot imagine how much you’re helping us.”

Thrivent Builds

Thrivent has been a national partner of Habitat for Humanity since 2005, building and rehabbing homes across the US and around the world.  From the partnership’s inception, Thrivent and its members have contributed more than $253 million to build or repair more the 5,300 homes in the U.S. and more than 5.85 million volunteer hours. Thrivent remains the largest non-governmental supporter of Habitat for Humanity International.

How Habitat and Thrivent partner:

  • Habitat and Thrivent Faith Builds: Focuses on serving communities across the nation through the construction of new homes in partnership with local Christian churches.

  • Habitat and Thrivent Worldwide: Equips Thrivent members and others to give financially and volunteer their time as they travel to international or domestic locations for a week or more at a time to build or renovate homes and experience other cultures.

Thrivent Financial is a financial services organization that helps Christians be wise with money and live generously. For more than 100 years, we’ve helped our member-owners show God’s love to others by being good stewards of the gifts they’ve been given.

We see money as a tool, not a goal. Our unique approach to blending faith, finances, and generosity helps our members thrive, but that’s only part of our story. We also support programs that help build stronger families, churches, and communities. You could call it a fresh way to think about money. We call it The Thrivent Way.

Thrivent Builds partnership has three programs:

  • Thrivent Builds Homes

The largest of the three focuses on improving communities by helping build homes in partnership with families in need.

  • Thrivent Builds Repairs

Gives repair for existing homes for those who don’t have the resources or ability to make repairs themselves.

  • Thrivent Builds Worldwide

Allows volunteers to travel for more than a week or more to build homes while being able to experience other communities and cultures.

Thrivent Financial has been a generous sponsor on 14 Habitat homes in Weld County!
