Homeowner Education

The Family Services program is comprised of a number of educational elements. This program is intended to provide current and future Habitat families with the knowledge and experience they need to be successful homeowners, parents, neighbors, and citizens. Each workshop/class is a result of a partnership with local companies who commit to being a part of the educational program that each Greeley Habitat family completes prior to moving into their home. Homeowner education consists of:


Landscaping:

A single evening basic landscaping class taught by an employee of Alpine Gardens. Designed to give future Habitat homeowners the opportunity to design their landscaping plan and develop an understanding of yard maintenance.


Homeowner’s Insurance:

A one evening class taught by Kent Stauffer, State Farm Insurance giving future homeowners the basic knowledge they need to select a homeowner’s insurance provider.


City Codes & Covenants:

A one-evening class intended to educate future homeowners about basic city codes and Habitat North covenants taught by employees of the City of Greeley and GAHFH staff.


Home maintenance:

The homeowner is educated about minor repairs in order to save both time and money. This course is taught by the GAHFH Construction Director.
